The eye of Jupiter is getting smaller

It may look like astrological news, but it is astronomic (and a little late). I was seeing some pictures from Jupiter around the web and found this news from last year. It seems that the famous red spot is getting smaller.

Is it the end of the world? Is it Jupiter nap time? Is it the result of global warming caused by those stupid self destructive people from Jupiter? Is it a curse from a gypsy? Is it all that and more? I have no idea, sorry, I don't know!

Whatever it is, it is curious to see that in 1970 the spot had a diameter of 23 thousand kilometers (14,5 thousand miles) and now it is around 16 thousand kilometers (10,25 thousand miles). If it keeps going, in 30 years this spot may be just another one of the many spots Jupiter has. And just to give you a sense of scale, our planet has a diameter of 12 thousand kilometers (7,5 thousand miles), which means that even at this smaller present size the red spot is bigger than our planet (ok, good).
