Why the old games... #9

The games that in the last kick or punch made hand and feet bigger were the games from the series Battletoads. There were 4 games produced by no other company than Rare, in their first years of glory. The games had versions to GameBoy, NES, Master System, Mega Drive, Super NES e even arcade, but that was not enough a they also tried to make a cartoon, but they had no success. I played all editions, but the one I played the most was the crossover Battletoads vs Double Dragon (yeah, that Double Dragon).

The second game is God of War. In fact, if you never played, sorry about the little spoiler about the fight against the hydra. I remember I liked this part exactly because what happened was unexpected, right at the beginning of the game, so I believe I’m not the only one who remembers this fight hehehe.

And, as always, before someone confabulates, I don’t think it’s a bad thing this change. I just think it’s very interesting to see how things evolved, specially this interaction with the environment and different actions that are not limited to a special punch or something like that, the way it is so well done in God of War or, just to give another example, MadWorld to Wii.

If you still have some time, there are 2 videos bellow. The first one is beginning of the first Battletoads (you can see the whole game in YouTube, if you want). I chose a video that shows the game without using that portals to jump stages, that a few games of that era had, including Super Mario Bros. The second video is the so spoken fight between Kratos and the Hydra.

That’s all for now. See ya.

so cinematographic, no?
